Where Have You BEEN????

Well, it's been so long since I've posted ANYTHING on my blog!  Sorry, everyone!  :0 (

    You see....I got a NEW job back in April and it required sooo much of my time, that it really just left me with little time to myself!   My husband and I are just like two passing ships in the night it seems at times! LOL HEE HEE

     Anyway...things were really looking up for us despite me working so much and then...BOOM...life just has a way of happening!  My dog, Baxter just died all of sudden!  It was a complete shock, because he was only like six years old!  He was BEAUTIFUL and SWEET and I wanted you all to see him.......

       We really are going to miss you, Bax!  

Anyway... to all of you who follow my blog...I'm hoping to get a little time to make a few doLLs for the holiday...so, keep checking my eBay auctions.  

   Right now...I have some of my Mom's FaBRiC STaSh posted on there...so, if you get a chance check it out!

HaPPy MeMoRiaL Day!

Howdy Everyone! 
    Hope you are enjoying your Memorial Weekend!  I know I am!  Yesterday, I was able to make it to the Armada Fleamarket! YEAHHHHH!  
    I LOVE going to the fleamarket...you just never know what you are going to find!  My Mom has been going to this particular fleamarket since she was a little girl and I'm happy to say...that she has passed down the tradition! It's a nice fleamarket with fresh fruit, baked goods and many treasures! If you're out in Armada EARLY (and I do stress EARLY) on a Sunday Morning....this is the place to be!
      Afterwards.....you just have to stop at Papa's Restaurant for breakfast!  It's packed with a line out the door Sunday Morning, but...we don't mind waiting...it goes pretty fast, not to mention, once you get in....it gives you a chance to catch up on what you found at the fleamarket, enjoy a cup of coffee and have yourself one delicious homemade breakfast.

      If you've done all that....you can't end the day without stopping at The Lamb's Tail!  That's my friend Bonnie's Antique shop just down the road.  Bonnie has the most remarkable display of treasures at her Antique Shop!  Her shop is set in an OLd Big RuSTiC BaRn, which is just so charmingly decorated with all kind of treasures from the past! The yard leading up to the barn is just as remarkable with beautiful garden items that are for sale, along with vintage linens that hang from an old clothes line, which only adds even more charm to this already beautiful setting.....and the best part is everything is so reasonably priced!  
       Yes, The Lamb's Tail is a little hidden treasure down the road...and is definitely a MUST SEE if you are in Armada!

I got a NEW pattern in the mail today!

I'm so excited....I just had to share this with!!!!  Normally I don't buy too many patterns, unless they are just WOW WOW!   Well, the other day while I was on ebay...I came across a designer named, Susan Barmore who does very UNIQUE patterns.  I couldn't resist....I HAD TO HAVE THIS PATTERN!  I wanted more, but I had to stop myself at one! 
      Anyway...it arrived today!!!!  I LOVE IT!!!

I can not wait to make it!!!!   Let me share with you the seller's name on eBay that I got this pattern from...her username is:  mscoder and she has other patterns by Susan Barmore, as well.

Crafter's Tip on Removing Hot Glue...

Have you ever been working on a project and accidentally got hot glue where it shouldn't be?  You're first reaction is, "OH MY GOSH...I HAVE TO GET THAT OFF THERE!" and you quickly try to remove it!  That only results in removing a partial bit of it and the remaining portion is in a nice smeared glob that you have to PAINSTAKINGLY try to remove...somehow some way...bit by bit!  
STOP...I have the PERFECT solution!

Hope that's helps!  Remember don't panic and let dry completely, no matter how tempted you are to remove it immediately!

Scented Oil isn't just for candles....

Ever walk into a PRiMiTiVe CoUnTRy SToRe and just fall in love with the smell of it...so, inviting, so charming...you could just stay there for days????         
   Well, scented oil fragrances in candles and sprays are a large part of why the store may smell so yummy....however...I'm going to give you a tip on how to make your doLLs smell like this!
      As a primitive crafter, many of our doLLs are tea dyed or coffee stained to give them that aged (just pulled out of an old trunk in the attic) look.  If you are newly into making dolls...let me.....let you in on a little secret of what we do to make our doLLs irresistible!  We add just add few drops of scented oil into our coffee or tea mixture.

  Why not just spray scent directly onto the doLL?  Well, again our doLLs are tea-dyed and coffee dyed...so, any big droplets of oil that you spray...may result in a water mark stains and on the face that could absolutely ruin your doLL. 
     So, my tip for the day is...a couple drops of scented oil in your coffee or tea mixture!  Works like a charm!
      Where do I get this scented oil?  Well, alot of the suppliers I use to use....aren't selling their oil anymore.  I found two on ETSY that seem like they would be good...one goes by the user name: marysophlgallery  and the other goes by adamborosundries.  Check them out...they seem to have alot of different yummy scents available!
     If anybody else knows any good sellers of scented oil...please pass it on.

Hope Everyone had a fun and safe St.Patty's Day!  

Yep...my hubby went out and I stayed at home with the kids browsing PINTEREST!  OH...WONDERFUL PINTEREST!  I can NOW say I'm officially a member! I signed up today! 

I put a FOLLOW ME button on my blog if you want to go and check it out.  

Not much pinned there, yet....but, there will be....I could spend HOURS on PINTEREST, as you probably already know!  So, much information, inspiration and creativity!  Doesn't it makes you want to be a better person in all areas of your life?!  HEE HEE

FLEAMARKET WISHES....

  OH....I can't wait for the FLEAMARKETS to open!!!!  Mid April is when they start....and I am chomping at the bit here, folks!   (I told you....I got it bad! HEE HEE  Yep, fleamarket junkie!)

 But, hey...in the meantime...I found a few things to keep me good until then!

What fabric should I use?

   I know when I first started making dolls, I wondered what other artists were using for the fabric when making their dolls.  I would study the pictures...trying to figure it out or at craft shows ask my Mom the Craft Guru..."What do you think that was made out of???".
   I personally use OSNABURG and let me tell you why.... 

1. As a Primitive Artist, we really do alot of distressing to our dolls and this is just a more  durable fabric I have found. 
2. It really holds the paint nicely...and gives you a nice textured look when sanded, without putting holes in it. (see that's that durability factor again! HEE HEE)

So, my CRAFTER'S TIP this week to you would be....to try OSNABURG...it's a little more expensive than your regular cotton tea-dyed color fabric, however...there are places you can get OSNABURG at a comparable price.  
       1) You can go to Joann's and use your 40% coupon or....
       2)  Go to WALMART and I believe it's only $2.59 a yd. (I personally go to Walmart to get 
             my Osnaburg.)

Hey, eBay...I bet you thought I fell off the face of the Earth????  Not so!  Just been busy with cleaning, painting and cooking for the family!  Not that I'm big on cooking or anything, but every once and awhile you'll get me to bust out a pot! HEE HEE

    My son needed a bigger room, so I took his smaller room and I am making it my office.

And, whatcha' you been cooking you ask?  Well, with the cold weather here....I did manage to break out a pot like I said I sometimes do and make....AWH...YOU GUESSED IT! (Boy, you guys are good)

You know....some fresh parsley and pepper on top would make this picture perfect...don't you think? Well, what do I know????? I hardly cook!  I'm more of a dessert and side dish kind of girl! HEE HEE  

 

      Anyway, the GOOD NEWS is.....I just got done posting this BUNNY on eBay and thought you might want to check her out..........

I've been so busy with all my projects and taking care of the kids....that I almost forgot to tell you!

Super Soul Sunday.....

Another thing I'm lovin'  is SUPER SOUL SUNDAY on the OWN channel....

   I watch it every Sunday!  It allows me to regroup and focus on where it is I want to go in my life. Sometimes, you need that!  
    Today....she had on..."The Law of Attraction" and can I say...LOVED IT!  If you get a chance make sure to watch it!  It's so true!
     Also, Oprah's Lifeclass will change the way you think about things...it's inspiring and uplifting!  She's had people like....Joel Osteen (my favorite, I watch him EVERY Sunday, as well), T.D. Jakes,  Rick Warren, Tony Robbins, and more!  

So, if you haven't watched it, yet...TUNE IN....it just may change your life!

A PRiMiTiVe CRaFTeR's BeST FRiENd!

    As a PRiMiTiVe Artist, you need to know how to make things look really oLd.  The charm of PriMiTiVe...is that you want it to look like something from days long ago, from a more simpler time! 
   You want your doLL to look, as if you had just pulled it out of an oLd trunk in some attic and one of the tricks to achieving this look is CINNAMON! Yes... Cinnamon, my friend! We do what I like to call....CINNAMON IT TO DEATH! LOL   
So, my CRaFteR's TiP for you this week is......CiNNaMoN!

      And, the best place to find GROUND CINNAMON, you ask?  Walmart!  They sell it for just 50 Cents...you can't beat that for a little PRiMiTiVe CHaRM!

SHEW FLY PIE JOINS ETSY!

Well, I finally did it!   I opened an ETSY STORE!

 
 Yep, although I have been selling on eBay for years and let me just say...I LOVE EBAY...but, I want to get a little extra exposure, so I thought by selling on etsy... that was one way of doing just that!
    I will still be listing dolls on eBay, however, patterns, vintage items and a selection of finished dolls will now be available for you to purchase on etsy, as well!
    Patterns will be available in two weeks and I will work hard on stocking my etsy store, but for now I'm just giving you the heads up!  I hope you will keep checking back on it often!
